Campus Cham

The Cham campus is growing rapidly. After only offering a Bachelor’s degree course in the first few years of its existence, the number of students has increased fivefold in recent years as the range of courses has expanded. Around 500 young people are now studying at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology’s newest teaching location. As at the other two THD teaching locations, internationality is also a top priority in Cham. Just under a quarter of the students come from Germany, three quarters from over 30 different countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and North and South America.

A special feature of the Cham campus is that its students have a is offered a continuous professional perspective. After the undergraduate Bachelor’s degree program Mechatronics & project management for digital productionwhich is offered in German, graduates can then choose from three consecutive English-language Master’s programs – the Master Mechatronic and Cyber-Physical Systemsthe Master Artificial Intelligence for Smart Sensors and Actuators and the Master Applied AI for Digital Production Management.

The new Bachelor’s and Master’s courses have been geared towards current issues in the fields of mechatronics and artificial intelligence in order to meet the increasing demand on the job market. Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, smart factory, IOOT, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, smart sensors and actuators, machine learning, big data, data analysis, autonomous systems – these keywords are just a few examples to illustrate the broad spectrum of course content.

Everything under one roof. Students at the Cham campus benefit enormously from the close relationship between the campus and regional and national companies in the field of mechatronics. The Cham Technology Campus research and development center, the digital start-up center, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and parts of the Mechatronics Network of Eastern Bavaria are all located next door to the campus. This synergy of theory and practice is unique and enables students to learn in both an application-oriented and scientific way.Due to the topicality of the course content, a large number of experts from professional practice support teaching at the Cham campus.

Analogous to DIT’s two other campuses, internationality is also a priority in Cham. While a quarter of students come from Germany, three quarters of all students come from 30 different nations spread throughout Europe, Asia, Africa as well as North and South America.

What is special about the Campus Cham is that its students are offered a continuous professional perspective.
