Campus Cham
The Cham campus is growing rapidly. While only one bachelor’s degree program was offered in its early years, the number of students has increased fivefold in recent years as the range of programs has expanded. Today, approximately 700 young people are studying at the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences’ newest campus. As at the THD’s other two campuses, international diversity is a top priority in Cham. Just under a quarter of the students come from Germany, while three-quarters come from over 30 different countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North and South America.
What makes the Cham campus unique is that it offers its students a seamless career path. After completing the undergraduate Bachelor’s program in Mechatronics & Project Management for Digital Production, which is taught in German, graduates can then choose from four consecutive English-language Master’s programs: —the Master’s in Mechatronic and Cyber-Physical Systems, the Master’s in Artificial Intelligence for Smart Sensors and Actuators, the Master’s in Applied AI for Digital Production Management, and the Master’s in Robotics.
The new Bachelor’s and Master’s courses have been geared towards current issues in the fields of mechatronics and artificial intelligence in order to meet the increasing demand on the job market. Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, smart factory, IOOT, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, smart sensors and actuators, machine learning, big data, data analysis, autonomous systems – these keywords are just a few examples to illustrate the broad spectrum of course content.
Everything under one roof. Students at the Cham Campus benefit greatly from the campus’s close ties to regional and national companies in the field of mechatronics. The Technology Campus Cham Research and Development Center, the Digital Startup Center, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and parts of the Mechatronics Network of Eastern Bavaria e.V. are all located right next door to the campus. This synergy between theory and practice is unique and enables students to engage in both application-oriented and scientific learning. Because the curriculum is so up-to-date , a wide range of experts from the professional world support teaching activities at the Cham Campus.
